Market traders have been hailed by retailers for clearing snow and ice from High Wycombe's High Street.  Traders battled into town ahead of market day before Christmas only to discover the deep freeze had taken hold and the streets had not been gritted.  The market was called off but instead of heading home to the warm, traders grabbed their shovels and cleared the pavements for shoppers.

The snow and ice had caused many people to fall over, the town came to a standstill on the last Saturday before Christmas and people were put off coming into town to stock up for Christmas.  Local traders thanked the public-spirited market traders for all their hard work.
