Linda Holding worked at Fylde Dairies in the covered market at Chorley for five years before it closed last year. Since then she has spent months looking for work but has now decided to go for it and to open her own food stand, Linda’s Larder, in the same spot on the market last month.
Linda, who has six children, 18 grandchildren and one great grand child, said: “I enjoyed my time at Chorley market with Fylde Dairies, so I wanted to come back. It was difficult to get started on my own because I didn’t have a lot of money, but we’ve budgeted and it’s going well so far. I couldn’t just retire and sit on my backside all day; I wanted to carry on working. And God loves a trier!”
“I think people like to know that a local girl is running her own stall,” she said. “A lot of customers who I know from working here before have said how lovely it is that I’ve found work, and that I’m running my own business in Chorley now.”
Linda sells cheeses, chutneys, olives and continental meats. She also makes delicious fresh pizzas - ustomers can choose their own toppings and cook the pizza when they get home.
The new businesswoman has also been awarded five stars – the highest grade – in Chorley Council’s food hygiene rating scheme.
Good on you Linda, we wish you the very best of luck with your new business!
